Kites up the Creek 2018

The weekend of 1st/2nd September 2018 saw us take part in Kites up the Creek at Milton Creek Country Park in Sittingbourne. This is becoming an annual event in a pretty little country park bordering the Sittinbourne and Kemsley Light Railway

Saturday was very light winds, but we managed to keep a few kites in the sky most of the day. We were also joined by one young man and his mum who brought along a kite with them. Once the kite had been sorted out, he flew it all day long and didn't want to go home.

Sunday was the main day of the event. We were joined by Ranger Kristian and volunteers from the Friends of Milton Creek who ran a kite making workshop and made about 50 kites. The day started again with good sunshine but a very light breeze. It looked like it was going to be a struggle to keep kites in the air. But at about lunchtime, the breeze steadied and stayed reasonably constant for the rest of the afternoon. I think a jolly good time was had by all.
