This weekend we helped our club secretary, Malcolm, and his wife celebrate 17 years of married life together. On Saturday night we were invited to join them for a celebration at the Smiths Court Hotel in Cliftonville, "because we can". On Sunday we held a club fly-in at St. Mildred's Bay in Westgate, where Malcolm and Debbie had generously volunteered to provide a buffet lunch to friends and family who came to spend the time with them. I think I can safely say that a jolly good time was had by all at both events.

Sunday started as a bright sunny day with brisk if somewhat inconsistent breezes on the cliffs above they bay. Initial estimations as to the required size of the lifter kite were drastically over-estimated, but quickly reduced to a more manageable size. We quickly had several kites in the sky and gathered quite a crowd of interested onlookers. There was a fair selection of sea creatures, rabbits, birds, dragons and even some stick kites!

Of course, the day was about much more than just kites. Malcolm and Debbie had laid on quite a spread for friends and family to help them celebrate, and Malcolm even flew a kite without tangling with anyone else - something of a record I believe.

Our thanks go to Malcolm and Debbie for their generosity, and to the weather gods who gave us reasonable, if maybe a little blustery conditions. A couple of photos from the day below.
