This year we will be lighting up the sky twice. And on Sunday 27th October the first outing took place on the strand at Walmer. It was just as well we chose the Sunday rather than the Saturday as the strong winds and heavy rain had abated, and it was a beautiful autumnal afternoon, though the breeze was light to non-existent.

During the afternoon, it looked like we would have to leave the kites on the ground as the breeze simply wasn't playing, but at about 5pm someone had put a shilling in the metre and the lightest of breezes arrived. Just sufficient to lift some illuminated deltas off the ground. In the end, we had 5 kites in the sky, and several passing dog walkers came and chatted and made donations to Children in Need. At the time of writing, I don't know how much we managed to collect.

Sorry about the quality of the photographs, but its not easy in the fading light.
